The deliciously delayed debut release from I, Cactus brings you a short collection of sweet tunes filled with heartbreakingly innocent melodies. As you stroll along with the sun at your back, one cute cactus after another bouncing happily behind you, with this carefree blend of chippy harmonies and clicky crunchy beats you'll never look at a cactus the same way again. Featuring such treasures as "Bamboo Cactus" an unforgettable remix of Nullsleep's "Playful Panda" - this little cactus packs a big punch!

i was messing around the audio portion of the site tonight and had never checked out netlabels. why not? i grew up in arizona. we walked off the back of the property and had salt cedar, horned toads, carpets of sand verbena, scorpions, and sidewinders. i am sucker for cactus pictures and that was the first offering. i'll go with it. charming. i was bouncing around in my chair even between tracks. love green cactus.

I hate experimental pieces that are too long, but these tracks are too short.

It took me around seven tries to get myself to like this album, but now I do! It's nicely sweet and electronic-y, but not overly sappy. I'll be looking forward to more from I, Cactus!

To think that such simple twitchy melodies are able to bring back such sweet memories. I found these tracks by accident way back in 03 and just now have regained them only to find them as sweet and innocent as when I first heard them.

I was just browsing the discography of 8BitPeoples and I came across his tracks. They were simple, tightly composed and great.
Definitely one of the best net release albums I've ever heard.
It took me a good 4 months to find out he had other releases under different names (Khonnor and Grandma) and they have their moments too, great stuff.
I would really like to see a re-release of teh I, Cactus tracks in higher quality, like say 224kbit or so?

This is completely amazing.
I wish the songs were longer though and that there were more of them. I want an LP!! Is there one in the works?

Great music, but why only 128Kbps? This makes it unsuitable for DJing. Please 8 Bit People, give us more bits per socond.

honestly i was expecting "more" after reading all these enthusiast reviews. maybe too much intricate and bleepy for my tastes, and would have preferred not-fading-out solutions for the tracks endings BUT this is actually a very well produced ep. melodies are much interesting.

Great stuff. Great hooks and catchy melodies.
In addition to the stuff released as Grandma, he also has two EPs released as Khonnor.
One on Type Records at:
http://www.typerecords.com/artists/full.php?id=24
And another on Please Do Something at:
http://www.pleasedosomething.com/r/pls014/
He is supposed to have a full LP out in March on Type, which I'm certainly looking forward to.

This EP, from youngster Connor Kirby-Long, busts out some really beautiful, lo-fi electronic sounds, using pure tones and catchy melodies to his supreme advantage. Highly recommended - I like the 'Chartreuse Cactus' best - oh, and a disclaimer - Connor's also released 3 EPs as Grandma on the net.label I run, Monotonik, which are also well worth checking out.
